Next General Meeting

Come one, come all, to the next general meeting of the Boone County Historical Society.  All members of the public interested in the history of Boone County are welcome.

Meeting is: Sunday, January 18, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Walters-Boone County Historical Museum. This meeting will feature a presentation by David Fiedler on his recently published book

The Enemy Among Us.

New Book Available at Gift Shop

Historic Rock Bridge, Boone County, Missouri,

a 40-page history by David P. Sapp,

is now available at the Gift Shop.

Based on extensive research into the unique area

now serving as a state park, the book chronicles the

development of Boone County's first manufacturing center.

Over the years, Rock Bridge served as the location

of tanyards, grist mills, general stores and post offices, and

whiskey distilleries with their attendant blacksmith's

and cooper's operations.

45 pages, soft cover, many photographs and

illustrations.  $10.00 at the museum.  $13.00 by mail.
