Endowment
Trust
The Boone County Historical
Society Endowment Trust was established in 1990 to provide financing
for the maintenance and improvement of real and personal property
owned by the Society. Among its responsibilities, the Trust
maintains the Walters-Boone County Historical Museum in Columbia,
Missouri. Your contribution to the Endowment Trust will
make you a guardian of our county's future.
Contributions are tax
deductible
The Endowment Trust set up for the Society has
a tax-deductible status. "This trust is organized exclusively
for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of
Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code."
Unrestricted gifts allow flexibility
Unrestricted gifts will permit
the Society Endowment Trust Trustees to use your gift where the
need is greatest.
Heritage gifts
All contributions are personally
acknowledged by a certificate of appreciation.

Other methods of giving
Wills:The
Endowment and Gifts Program can be specified as the beneficiary
in your will.
Matching gifts:Many corporations will
match their employee's contributions. If your company has
such a policy, it may allow you to double the helpful impact of
your gift.
Gifts of appreciated securities:Many donors choose to make gifts of common stock or other
securities that have appreciated in value.
Life insurance:A donor may wish to assign ownership of an insurance policy to the
Endowment and Gifts Program.
Deferred gifts:Donors can make gifts during their lives, which may make them eligible
for substantial income tax benefits, while providing generous
life income for the donor or other beneficiary.
It is recommended that you consult your attorney or tax advisor
when preparing any major gift. Although gifts or bequests
may be for general purposes or for particular causes, the unrestricted
gift is best because it can be applied wherever the need is the
greatest when the time comes.
