The 8,000-square-foot Montminy Art Gallery showcases the work of local, regional and state artists of importance in interest to the Boone County community.
The gallery was made possible by the generous gift of the estate of Tracy and Pierre Montminy and donations from county trusts, businesses, and individuals. It also serves as home to the Montminy’s collected works including murals, oil paintings, pen and ink drawings and sketches, reflecting the artists lifetime ahievements. Tracy and Pierre taught at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Stephens College respectively. Their paintings are regularly exhibited in the gallery.
The Society also curates and exhibits the work of nine Boone County photographers from a collection spanning more than a century. More than 700,000 photographic glass plate and acetate negatives comprise this singular collection depicting the people and life in Boone County from 1867 through the mid-twentieth century.
