BOONE COUNTY MUSEUM AND GALLERY VISITING HOURS
If you are planning a visit to Boone County Museum and Galleries you can choose from several options for touring during your visit.
Admission: Historical Society members are admitted to the Walters History Museum and Montminy Art Gallery at no charge. Simply present your BCHS Individual or Family Membership Card at the desk. Admission for non-members is just $3 per person, for adults and children. Babes in arms are free. We respectfully request that you do not bring strollers or pets into the museum.
Hours: The Museum and Art Gallery are open Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 to 4:30 pm throughout the year. If you have questions about the Museum and Galleries, about specific exhibits, or would like more information, please call the Museum and Galleries at 573-443-8936.
THE WALTERS HISTORY MUSEUM
The Walters History Museum features exhibits highlighting Missouri’s history beginning with the Louisiana purchase and creation of the state, through present day. Exhibits change frequently. Visitors can choose to browse the galleries in the Walters History Museum at their leisure. Knowledgeable docents and guides are available to answer questions or provide more information about exhibits upon request. Guided tours and group tours are available at $5 per person.
TOURS OF THE MONTMINY ART GALLERY
The Montminy Art Gallery features the work of local and regional artists of all media including shows featuring crafters and photographers. Each featured artist has work on display for two months, and most artists offer additional workshops or book signings during the run of the exhibit. Walking tours of the gallery are often given by the artist during a special reception. During regular gallery hours, docents can answer questions about the art or direct visitors to the artist for more information.
TOURS OF HISTORIC MAPLEWOOD HOUSE
Listed on the National Historic Register, the 1877 late Victorian-Era Maplewood House is open to the public from 12:00 to 4:30 pm each Sunday afternoon, May through September. Visitors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling the Museum and to request a tour of this beautifully restored house. Admission for children and adults is $3 per person. BOONE JUNCTION VILLAGE
The Village at Boone Junction current is open Sunday afternoons from 12:30 to 4:00 pm, May through September. Visitors are encouraged to encouraged to make an appointment by calling the Museum and to request a tour of the village. Among the buildings in Boone Junction is the 1818 Gordon Log Cabin and the 1900 Easley Country Store. Admission for children and adults is $3 per person. Group tour fee is $5 per person.
