Opening Reception – Contemporary Asian American Visions

About

Join us for the opening reception of Visions: Contemporary Asian American Visions, a landmark exhibition celebrating community, culture, and creative exchange. This special evening marks the first Asian art exhibition of its kind in the Montminy Art Gallery’s history.

Co-curated by Weihua Zhu, Visions brings together five Asian art professionals from universities across the region alongside three accomplished local artists, representing cultural traditions from China, Korea, and Japan. The exhibition features paintings, ceramics, and video works, each selected as a proud and personal statement from the artists and together forming a compelling fusion of Eastern and Western artistic perspectives.

The opening reception takes place during the Lunar New Year and will include a live Chinese instrument performance and traditional Chinese desserts, offering a festive and culturally rich way to experience the exhibition for the first time.

Celebrate the opening of Visions with us and experience a powerful gathering of voices, traditions, and contemporary expression.

Financial assistance for this program has been provided by the City of Columbia, Office of Cultural Affairs.
